14th Annual Go Move Challenge

Faculty and staff, it’s time to get moving! Join the 14th annual Go Move Challenge by logging your intentional, heart-pumping physical activity. Your minutes help determine which Jesuit institution is the most active. Awards will be given for the most total minutes, the highest average minutes per participant, and the highest average minutes adjusted for university size.

Take part in your chance to win prizes! Weekly drawings will be held on Feb. 9, 1, 23 and March 2. Each week, the person who records the highest number of exercise minutes will win a prize. Those who complete 100 minutes or more of exercise — or at least 20 minutes of exercise five days a week — will be entered into a prize raffle for Regis hats, t-shirts, water bottles and other great prizes. To ensure fairness and keep it interesting, each weekly winner is eligible to win only once during the weekly rounds but will have another opportunity to compete in the final stage.

At the end of the challenge, there will be top prizes for individuals. Raffle winners will be picked throughout the four weeks, as well as a prize for the top team of the month. Prizes are courtesy of some of our vendors, Regis University Advancement department, and Regis Bookstore.

WHAT DOES “EVERY MINUTE COUNTS” MEAN?

Any activity that gets your body moving, burns calories, and raises your heart rate. This can include climbing stairs, playing sports, brisk walking, jogging, swimming, biking, strength training, heavy gardening, yoga — you name it. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week to keep your heart healthy and strong.

But no one said those minutes have to be all at once! Find simple ways to weave a bit more exercise into your busy day.

  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator, or even use a different set of stairs that are further away.
  • Park further away from your destination.
  • Ride your bike (non-motorized) to work.
  • Fast paced walk anywhere.
  • Pull weeds for 5 minutes before starting dinner.
  • Knock out a 10 minute workout right when you wake up – 4 minutes of cardio, 3 minutes strength training, 3 minutes of stretching (check out YouTube for ideas).
  • Do wall-sits while you’re brushing your teeth.
  • Do push-ups, crunches or yoga stretches during commercial breaks.
  • 5 minute jog when you get home from work.

Every minute of moderate exercise counts and helps boost your team’s average! Check-in throughout the day, every day, to move your team up the leaderboard! The University with the highest total number of minutes wins!
